National Geographic published a list of five must see "cultural treasures" in St. Petersburg.

The State Russian Museum is the first place for the largest collection of Russian art objects in the world. In the article the museum is mentioned as  an ideal place to immerse yourself in Russian art.

The Hermitage, repeatedly occupying the first lines of various ratings and recommendations, is called "a diamond in the crown of Russian museums". The rating also includes the Museum of Modern Art "Erarta". The museum stores more than 2,800 art objects of contemporary artists.

The private museum of Faberge, where is the collection of Russian jewelry and decorative and applied arts of the XIX-XX centuries is on the fourth line. Especially valuable are the nine imperial Easter eggs created by Carl Gustav Faberge. 

The last in the list is the Actor’s Samoilov Museum Apartment, which is a branch of St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music. Recommended exposure of theatrical culture of St. Petersburg XIX and early XX centuries.
