Description of the tour

Georgian cuisine is so varied and tasty and will surprise both - meat eaters and vegetarians. You'll try Khachapuri, Egg-plants with walnuts, Shkmeruli, Pork Shashlik, Georgian bread from “Tone”, fish in Coriander sauce, Chaqapuli (seasonal dish) or Chakhokhbili, Khashlama, Khinkali, bean soap, Nadugi, Kharcho (with nuts), Kuchmachi, Elarji, Matsoni soup, Chakhrakina, 
Kebab, trout in pomegranate sauce, Achma, mushrooms with cheese and other dishes.

Tour program:

Day 1: Arrival

Day 2: Tbilisi
Arrive in Tbilisi previous evening or early in the morning. Transfer to the hotel and time for rest.   
Historic part of Tbilisi is located at the foot of Narikala Fortress.
It charms visitors with its romantic, narrow streets, beautiful facades and picturesque sites next to each other, including Metekhi Church, Synagogue, Sioni Cathedral, Bridge of Peace, Anchiskhati Church and famous sulphur bathhouses.
Cooking classes in a culinary school with professional cooks. Dinner in a small restaurant that is decorated with wine drinking vessels, many of which are still used. Singers will join you during the dinner to represent Georgian polyphonic songs. Overnight in Tbilisi.   
Dish of the day: Khachapuri, Egg-plants with walnuts, Shkmeruli. 

Day 3: Tbilisi – Signagi – Tsinandali – Telavi (190 km)
Visiting eastern region of Kakheti, noted for its hospitality and winemaking. First visit the grave of St.Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia, in Bodbe Convent. Next to it is situated a beautiful town of Signagi, with a picturesque view on Alazani Valley. It is surrounded by defensive wall built in 18th century. Continue to drive to a farmer’s house. You will get familiar with cooking of the best Pork Shashlik and try to bake bread in the clay oven. Tasting of Kakhetinian wine that is kept in underground clay jars and lunch with home-made dishes. Later drive to visit  the duke’s estate in Tsinandali. Dinner and overnight in Telavi. 
Dish of the day: Pork Shashlik, Georgian bread from “Tone”, fish in Coriander sauce.  

Day 4: Telavi – Gremi – Kvareli – Tbilisi  (185 km)   
In the morning visit farmer’s market. Then drive to visit Gremi fortress (16 в.) that served as a residence for Kakhetian kings. Then excursion and wine-tasting in a winery in Kvareli. Lunch in a restaurant with regional dishes and a beautiful view. Drive to Tbilisi. Dinner in a restaurant. Overnight in Tbilisi. 
Dish of the day: Chaqapuli (seasonal dish) or Chakhokhbili, Khashlama.   

Day 5: Tbilisi – Mtskheta  –  Mukhrani – Kutaisi (250 km)
Drive to visit the old capital of Georgia - Mtskheta (UNESCO Word Heritage). Christianity in Georgia started from this town in 4th century. If you visit Jvari Monastery at the top of a high cliff, you can have a splendid panoramic view of how two rivers, Aragvi and Mtkvari join each other, as well as the great view on Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), spiritual centre of the country. Mtskheta is also well-known for its wide range of restaurants with delicious Khinkali and Bean soap. After lunch drive to Mukhrani. Excursion and wine-tasting in Chateau Mukhrani. Drive to West part of Georgia to the second largest city Kutaisi. Dinner and overnight in Kutaisi.   
Dish of the day: Khinkali, bean soap, Nadugi. 

Day 6: Kutaisi – Samegrelo – Kutaisi (190 km)
Western Georgia dishes are spicier than dishes from Eastern Georgia and there are used a lot of fresh vegetables and greens, as well as nuts in starters and main dishes. Then drive to visit Gelati monastery (12 century). Later cooking classes in a village in Samegrelo region. You will learn how to cook Kharcho and Elarji. In the afternoon visit Promethe's Cave, with stunning shapes of its stalactites and stalagmites.  Drive back to Kutaisi. Dinner and overnight in Kutaisi. 
Dish of the day: Kharcho (with nuts), Kuchmachi, Elarji. 

Day 7: Kutaisi – Ulistsikhe – Tbilisi (265 km)
Drive to the cave town of Uplistsikhe, built back in the 1st millennium, BC., by pagan tribes. There was a pass of Silk Road, whose traces are still seen. In Gori you will taste one more regional dish – Chakhrakina. Dinner in a traditional Georgian restaurant with Georgian dances. Overnight in Tbilisi.   
Dish of the day:  Matsoni soup, Chakhrakina, Kebab.   

Day 8: Tbilisi (30 km)
Today you can take a stroll in the capital city of Georgia and feel once more the unique atmosphere of this charming town. Visit the treasury of Georgian museum (Golden artifacts from 1st millennium BC) and have a Brandy-tasting  in Sarajishvili Brandy distillery. Later drive up by Funicular to the top of the Mt. Mtatsminda and enjoy wonderful view on the city. The rest of the time is at your disposal till the dinner. Dinner in a nice restaurant with breathtaking view on the old town and delicious cuisine. Overnight in a hotel.  
Dish of the day: trout in pomegranate sauce, Achma, mushrooms with cheese. 

Day 9: Departure
Transfer to the airport and departure.
